Knights Slam Undefeated Garden City Aviators in Both Games of Doubleheader
North Shore Knights took both games from the 7-0-1 Garden City Aviators on Garden City’s home turf pushing the Knights’ record to 6-4 and dropping the Aviators to 7-2-1. In dominant fashion, the Knights won 16-1 in Game 1 and 19-0 in Game 2.
In Game 1, Jeremy Katz was once again strong on the mound for the Knights, striking out seven Aviators in the three-inning shortened game. When the Aviators reached base, Jeremy mowed them down to hold them to one run. Down 1-0 in the bottom of the first, the Knights scored 7 runs to jump out to a 7-1 lead. Max Kemnitzer got things started with a double to center field and later stole home to tie the game. Luca Ierano then drove in Frankie Rodrigues who drew a walk in his at-bat to give the Knights a 2-1 lead. TJ Lombardo got his six-hit day started with a single driving in Ryan O’Shea and Luca Ierano. Up 4-1, Lucian Othman drew a walk which brought in Noah Catandella to advance the lead to 5-1. Angelo Simonelli then walked to bring in TJ Lombardo. Jake Persichilli followed with a ground out RBI to shortstop driving in John Simonelli to give the Knights a 7-1 lead.
In the bottom of the second, the Knights’ excellent hitting continued. Frankie Rodrigues led off with a single before Ryan O’Shea’s monster double drove Frankie in. After Jeremy Katz doubled to deep left, Luca Ierano’s single drove Jeremy in to make it 9-1.
The hits continued in the bottom of the third when Lucian Othman led off with a single. After Angelo Simonelli and Jake Persichilli drew walks to load the bases, Frankie Rodrigues’ single drove in Othman. Ryan O’Shea doubled again driving in Angelo Simonelli and Jake Perschilli moving the lead to 13-1. Luca Ierano walked before Noah Catandella’s double to left brought in Dylan Martella who pinch-ran for O’Shea and Ierano giving the Knights a 15-1 lead. TJ Lombardo’s single then drove in Catandella to give the Knights the 16-1 win.
In Game 2, the Knights used their hot bats, dominating pitching, and stellar fielding to destroy the Aviators, 19-0. Max Kemnitzer threw a gem, allowing zero runs in four innings and only giving up two hits and one walk. It was his third shutout on the mound for the Knights. The Knights opened up scoring in the first when Max Kemnitzer led off the game with a single followed by a double by Frankie Rodrigues driving in Max for the early 1-0 lead. Luca Ierano later singled in Frankie Rodrigues giving the Knights a 2-0 lead. Catandella’s sacrifice fly to center drove in Jeremy Katz who reached base on a fielder’s choice. The 3-0 lead was just the start of a barrage of hits.
In the top of the second, Kai Ramalho and John Considine walked before Max Kemnitzer’s line drive to center loaded the bases for Frankie Rodrigues. Franke’s single to right drove in Kai giving the Knights a 4-0 lead. Ryan O’Shea’s walk with bases loaded brought in John Considine. Jeremy Katz then hit a bomb to center driving in Max and Frankie extending the lead to 7-0. Later in the inning, Noah Catandella doubled down the left field line driving in Ryan O’Shea and Jeremy Katz. After TJ Lombardo singled to drive in Catandella, his speed took over. He stole second and third before stealing home on a passed ball. The Knights were then up a commanding 11-0.
In the top of the third, Frankie Rodrigues doubled to right field to drive in Kai Ramalho and Max Kemnitzer putting the Knights up 13-0. After another scoreless inning, the Knights came to bat one more time in the game. In the bottom of the fourth, Jeremy Katz led off the inning with a single before TJ Lombardo struck again driving in Katz to make it 14-0. Later in the inning, Lucian Othman hit a scorcher double down the left field line to drive in Luca Ierano and TJ Lombardo. Up 16-0, Jackson Zuklie hit a line drive to right center to drive in Othman. Kai Ramalho followed with a double before John Considine’s ground out RBI drove in Zuklie making it 18-0. Later in the inning, Jake Persichilli’s single to left field scored Kai making it 19-0 which proved to be the final score.
Over the two games, the Knights exploded for 30 hits and made great plays in the infield and outfield. It was a solid game all around. Pending the outcomes of a few games this week, the Knights will hopefully play a playoff game on Saturday, June 3rd against the Lynbrook Knights. Let’s go Knights!
Knights Explode to Beat the Beast in Both Games on Mother’s Day

In game one of the Mother’s Day doubleheader, the North Shore Knights coasted to an easy victory over Beast Red 11-1. In the first inning, North Shore Knights got their offense started when Max Kemnitzer homered on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, driving in Noah Catandella who led off with a single. After Ryan O’Shea drew a walk, Jeremy Katz drove him in with a triple to deep right to give the Knights a 3-0 lead.
In the top of the 4th inning, Jeremy Katz led off the inning with a double before Frankie Rodrigues drove him in with a line drive hit to right center. After Rodrigues stole two bases, John Simonelli singled to right to drive Frankie in to extend the Knights’ lead to 5-0.
North Shore Knights broke the game open in the fifth inning scoring five runs. Max Kemnitzer’s double drove in Cameron Lund to extend the lead to 6-1. Lund reached base on a walk. Ryan O’Shea then doubled driving in Catandella and Kemnitzer to advance the lead to 8-1. A sacrifice fly by Jeremy Katz drove in O’Shea before Frankie Rodrigues’ single drove in Luca Ierano who doubled in his at bat. This gave the Knights a 10-1 lead.
Jeremy got the start for North Shore Knights and was once again dominant on the mound. Jeremy threw four solid innings striking out eight batters. Jake Persichilli came in to throw two shutout innings without allowing a hit or walk, striking out two Beast hitters.
North Shore Knights collected 14 hits. Noah Catandella, Jeremy Katz, Frankie Rodrigues, Max Kemnitzer, and John Simonelli each had multiple hits for North Shore Knights.
Game 2
Max Kemnitzer threw his second no-hitter of the season as the North Shore Knights beat Beast Red 15-0. Over the three innings, Max struck out three batters without allowing a hit or walking a Beast hitter.
The Knights got things going early in the bottom of the first when Frankie Rodrigues’ double drove in Max Kemnitzer who the led the inning off with with a walk. After a walk to Luca Ierano and a hit by pitch by John Simonelli, Noah Catandella singled home Ierano and Simonelli to give the Knights a 4-0 lead. With the bases loaded later in the inning, John Considine walked which brought in Noah Catandella.
The Knights stayed hot in the second inning when Jeremy Katz’s triple drove in Frankie Rodrigues and Ryan O’Shea. Rodrigues singled in his at bat and O’Shea walked. The Knights’ lead was extended to 8-0 when Jeremy Katz scored on Noah Catandella’s ground out to second.
In the bottom of the third, the Knights finished the Beast scoring seven runs which gave them the 15-0 run rule victory. Max Kemnitzer’s single drove in Lucian Othman who drew a walk to lead off the inning. With the bases loaded, Frankie Rodrigues’ walk brought in John Considine who also walked. Ryan O’Shea then drove in Kai Ramalho with a sacrifice fly. Ramalho walked earlier in the inning. Jeremy Katz struck again with a line drive double to left center which drove in Max Kemnitzer and Jake Persichilli. This gave the Knights a commanding 13-0 lead. Ierano’s 195 foot triple then drove in Katz. The Knights ended the game on John Simonelli’s ground ball which drove in Ierano giving them the 15-0 final.
The Knights moved to 4-4 on the season pushing them into a run for the playoffs. They will play the 4-0-1 Garden City Aviators next Sunday for the final two regular season games.
North Shore Knights Explode for 34 Runs to Beat the Ducks in Both Games of a Doubleheader

The North Shore Knights moved to 2-2 after taking two games from the Long Island Junior Ducks. Exploding for 34 runs and not allowing a run to score, the Knights were dominant in both games.
In game one of the twin bill, the Knights defeated the Ducks 15-0. Noah Catandella got things going early in the game with a single to left in the first inning. Max Kemnitzer, Jeremy Katz, and Luca followed with three more singles to open the game 3-0. After a walk by Ryan O’Shea, TJ Lombardo drove him and Luca Ierano in to give the Knights a 5-0 lead. Kai Ramalho then doubled later in the inning to extend the lead to 7-0. Later that same inning, Luca Ierano drove in Noah Catandella and Max Kemnitzer with a single to give the Knights an 11-0. In the second inning, Cameron Lund led off the inning with a single. TJ Lombardo drew a walk before Jake Persichilli singled to drive in Cameron Lund. Following a walk by Lucian Othman, Kai Ramalho drove in TJ Lombardo on a ground ball to first. Frankie Rodrigues gave the Knights a 15-0 lead when he drove in Jake Persichilli with a single to center which would prove to be the final score.
Jeremy Katz was strong on the mound throwing a no-hitter in the game, striking out all nine batters he faced. The solid combination of Katz’s pitching and ten hits by the Knights were too much for the Ducks to handle.
Game two of the doubleheader looked very similar for the Knights. Max Kemnitzer threw a complete game shutout, allowing one hit, striking out 6 Ducks. In his debut behind the plate,. Ryan O’Shea threw out a Duck trying to steal second in the first.
In the bottom of the first, the Knights scored eight runs to jump out in front. Noah Catandella led off the first with a walk before two hits by Max Kemnitzer and Frankie Rodrigues followed by a walk by Jeremy Katz before Ryan O’Shea’s blast. Ryan O’Shea continued his hot hitting by hitting a grand slam in the left center gap. The homerun gave the Knights a 5-0 lead. Luca Ierano, John Simonelli, Angelo Simonelli all reached base in the inning and scored to extend the early lead to 8-0. In the bottom of the second, Noah Catandella led off with a walk before two hits by Max Kemnitzer and Frankie Rodrigues which set up the inning with bases loaded and no outs. Following a walk by Jeremy Katz, Ryan O’Shea doubled in Frankie Rodrigues to give the Knights a commanding 11-0 lead. Luca Ierano, John Simonelli, and Angelo Simonelli drew three consecutive walks before Kai Ramalho’s ground ball to second drove Ierano. Cameron Lund then walked to give the Knights at 15-0 lead. Noah Catandella’s base hit drove in Angelo Simonelli to extend the lead to 16-0. Three more walks by Max Kemnitzer, Frankie Rodrigues, and Jeremy Katz gave the Knights the 19-0 which was the final score.
Over the two games, Max Kemnitzer had three hits to lead the Knights. Noah Catandella, Frankie Rodrigues, Luca Ierano, and Ryan O’Shea added two each. O’Shea led the team in RBIs on the day, driving in 5 runs. Frankie Rodrigues, Jeremy Katz, Luca Ierano, and Kai Ramalho each drove in 3.
The Knights will face the Lynbrook Knights on Sunday, May 7th at Flynn Memorial Park.
