Both teams were strong on the mound on Sunday, but North Shore Knights defeated Hauppauge Eagles 3-2 in a thriller.
North Shore Knights didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the sixth when Max Kemnitzer stole home on a wild pitch to give the Knights the decisive run.
North Shore Knights opened the scoring in the third after TJ Lombardo singled, scoring Kai Ramalho.
North Shore Knights tied the game at 2 in the bottom of the 6th inning when Max Kemnitzer drove in TJ Lombardo from third.
Ryan O’Shea earned the win for North Shore Knights. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking four in his first complete game of his career.
TJ Lombardo and Max Kemnitzer were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for North Shore Knights. TJ Lombardo, Frankie Rodrigues, and Max Kemnitzer each stole multiple bases for North Shore Knights. North Shore Knights stole 12 bases in the game. North Shore Knights turned one double play in the game when Luca stepped on third and fired across the diamond when the Eagles were threatening.
The Knights will face the Long Island Vikings in the Championship on June 9th at 10:00 a.m.
North Shore Knights topped the Hauppauge Eagles 7-2 on Friday night at Otsego Park.
North Shore Knights opened the scoring in the top of the third thanks to five singles. After Noah Catandella reached on an error and Angelo Simonelli walked, John Simonelli singled on a line drive to center field driving in Catandella and pushing his brother over to third. John Considine then singled to third scoring Angelo Simonelli. Next, Max Kemnitzer singled home John Simonelli to give the Knights a 3-0 lead. Jake Persichilli’s line drive base hit to left brought in Considine. Lucian Othman wanted in on the action so he singled to left bringing in Kemnitzer to make it 5-0 Knights.
After the Eagles pushed a run across in the bottom of the third to make it 5-1, North Shore Knights scored two runs in the top of the fourth to give them their final runs. Noah Catandella and Angelo Simonelli got things started for the Knights with back-to-back walks before John Considine reached base on an error by the pitcher. On the error, Catandella scored and John Simonelli moved to third base. He later scored on a wild pitch.
Max Kemnitzer earned the win for North Shore Knights. The righty allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out one. Jake Persichilli pitched three solid innings in relief for North Shore Knights. Persichilli gave up one hit and one run (zero earned).
North Shore Knights had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Angelo Simonelli and Luca Ierano led the team with two walks each.
Luca Ierano played a great third base with a sliding catch in the third inning after he caught a line drive and stepped on third to double off an eagle. His put outs made all three outs in the inning!

North Shore Knights took Tuesday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 4-3 walk-off victory over BEAST Black. North Shore Knights were down 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Lucian Othman struck a double to center field, scoring two runs to walk it off.
BEAST Black opened the scoring in the top of the first inning after RM doubled, scoring one run. In the bottom of the inning, Luca Ierano hit a bomb off the left-field fence driving in Max Kemnitzer to tie the game.
BEAST Black took the lead in the top of the fourth. RJ doubled, scoring one run, to give BEAST the upper hand, 2-1.
After BEAST Black scored their third run in the top of the 6th inning, North Shore Knights were ready to rock with their last licks. Consecutive hits by TJ Lombardo, Max Kemnitzer, and Ryan O’Shea loaded the bases with no outs. After BEAST Black was able to get two outs, the Knights kept cheering and fighting. Charlie Nader hit a hard ground ball to shortstop that brought in Lombardo to narrow the lead to 3-2. With two strikes on Lucian Othman, with his double armband hanging from his back pocket, and the chants of “Let’s go Looooosh,” Lucian drove a low outside pitch to center field. With an all-out dive to nab the line drive, BEAST’s centerfielder couldn’t grab Othman’s strike. Kemnitzer and O’Shea came around to score to start the celebration. With helmets scattered across the field, the Knights pulled it off.
Ryan O’Shea started the game for North Shore Knights on the mound. Ryan pitched a gem. He gave up only three hits and three runs (one earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three in a dominant performance. Luca earned the win in relief for the North Shore Knights. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning.
Lucian Othman, the number seven hitter for North Shore Knights, led the way with two runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-2 on the day. TJ Lombardo and Lucian Othman each collected two hits for North Shore Knights 11U.
The Knights’ defense was impressive all game making plays in both the infield and outfield to keep the beasts at bay.

North Shore Knights easily dispatched Diamond Baseball Academy in the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday, 18-6. The win, the Knights’ 4th in a row, evened out their record to 4-4-1 on the spring season.
North Shore Knights jumped out to the early lead in the top of the first inning scoring six runs. In the inning, eight Knights reached base. TJ Lombardo once again got the train going. After he walked to lead off the inning, he stole second and third. Max Kemnitzer’s single then brought him in to quickly give the Knights a lead. After Ryan O’Shea reached base on an error, Jake Persichilli drove a line drive to center field bringing in Kemnitzer and O’Shea to extend the lead to 3-0. Persichilli then stole second, took third on a passed ball, and scampered home on an error throw to third. Charlie Nader singled, Noah Catandella and Angelo Simonelli walked, before John Considine’s ground ball to the second basemen was booted which allowed Nader and Catandella to score. 6-0 Knights.
Though Diamond Baseball Academy scored two runs in the bottom of the inning, North Shore Knights extended their lead in the top of the second inning after Max Kemnitzer singled in TJ Lombardo who once again walked earlier in the inning. Max Kemnitzer stole second base, advanced to third on wild pitch and took home on a passed ball. Two consecutive walks to Ryan O’Shea and Jake Persichilli and a few passed balls led to O’Shea scoring the Knights’ ninth run of the game.
North Shore Knights scored six runs on three hits in the top of the third inning giving them a 15-3 lead over Diamond Baseball Academy. The inning started with a walk to Noah Catandella, a hard base hit to left by Lucian Othman, and a single by Angelo Simonelli which scored Othman. Catandella also scored as he took home on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, a single by TJ Lombardo brought home Angelo Simonelli. Max Kemnitzer’s ground ball to second base scored John Considine who reached base earlier in the inning. Consecutive walks to Ryan O’Shea, Jake Persichilli, and Luca Ierano led to TJ Lombardo and Max Kemnitzer crossing the plate.
After Diamond Baseball Academy scored two runs in the bottom of the third, the Knights earned the run-rule victory in the top of the 4th. Lucian Othman singled again to get the inning started. Kai Ramalho’s ground ball to shortstop led to an error that brought home Othman and Angelo Simonelli who walked earlier in the inning. Two more walks to John Simonelli and TJ Lombardo brought home the 18th run when John Considine scored.
Luca Ierano earned the win for North Shore Knights. He allowed two hits and three runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out two. John Considine appeared in relief for North Shore Knights pitching an inning before the run rule took effect.
Jake Persichilli drove the middle of the lineup, leading North Shore Knights with three runs batted in. Lucian Othman and Max Kemnitzer each collected two hits for North Shore Knights. TJ Lombardo led North Shore Knights with three walks after at-bats in which he fouled off multiple pitches. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 14 walks for the game. TJ Lombardo, John Simonellli, Ryan O’Shea, Lucian Othman, Jake Persichilli, Charlie Nader, and Max Kemnitzer each stole multiple bases for North Shore Knights.

In their third consecutive victory, the North Shore Knights topped Diamond Baseball Academy 11-6 on Saturday, May 4th in the first game of a twin bill.
North Shore Knights opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning thanks to two singles by TJ Lombardo and Max Kemnitzer. TJ led off with a base hit to third base. The third baseman still can’t believe how fast TJ got down the line. After TJ stole second base, Max Kemnitzer dropped a perfectly placed bunt for a hit. On the throw to first, TJ Lombardo came around to score. Charlie Nader’s drive down the right field line then brought in Kemnitzer and Luca Ierano who walked earlier in the inning. The Knights got off to a quick 3-0 lead.
After Diamond Baseball Academy scored a run in the top of the second, the Knights added two runs in the bottom of the inning to extend their lead to 5-1. Angelo Simonelli led off the inning with a walk, stole second base, and advanced to third on a ground ball by the other Simonelli, Johnny. TJ Lombardo’s ground ball to second then brought in Angelo Simonelli. Ryan O’Shea’s blast to left field scored TJ Lombardo from second base.
Diamond Baseball Academy flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on one hit to take a 6-5 lead. However, in the bottom of the third inning, North Shore Knights went back into the lead after Lucian Othman singled bringing in Kai Ramalho who pinch-ran for Charlie Nader who singled in the inning, and Noah Catandella. Angelo Simonelli reached base again on a walk before John Simonelli’s ground ball to short scored Othman and then Angelo on an errant throw. 9-6 Knights.
The Knights were not satisfied with the three-run lead. In the bottom of the 4th inning, Max Kemnitzer was hit by a pitch, Ryan O’Shea singled on a base hit to center bringing in Kemnitzer, Jake Persichilli walked, Luca Ierano was hit by a pitch, and Kai Ramalho walked which scored O’Shea. This gave the Knights the score of 11-6 which proved to be the final score.
Max Kemnitzer earned the win for North Shore Knights. The right-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits and one run (zero earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out two. Charlie Nader led things off on the mound for North Shore Knights. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and five runs (zero earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four.

Angelo Simonelli paced North Shore Knights with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. North Shore Knights were victorious over the Nesconset Panthers 8-4 on Friday night under the lights. The Knights got on the board in the top of the first inning when Ryan O’Shea’s groundout drove in TJ Lombardo, who led off the game with a walk. Frankie Rodrigues who reached on an error earlier in the inning, stole home on a wild pitch to extend the early lead to 2-0.
With the game tied 2-2 in the top of the 4th inning, the Knights struck for three runs. Ryan O’Shea led off the inning with a walk before Luca Ierano and Jake Persichilli reached on errors. Later, on Jake Persichilli’s ground ball, Ryan O’Shea scored. Charlie Nader’s ground out then brought home Luca Ierano. After a Noah Catandella walk, Angelo Simonelli struck a single to right field to bring home Persichilli. In the bottom of the inning, Nesconset Panthers closed the game to 5-4.
With two outs in the top of the 5th inning, the Knights got hot. TJ Lombardo doubled to left field before Frankie Rodrigues’ fly ball to center was dropped scoring Lombardo. Ryan O’Shea’s line drive up the middle then brought in Rodrigues. Next, Max Kemnitzer’s single scored O’Shea giving the Knights the commanding 8-4 lead.
TJ Lombardo earned the win for the Knights in his first start of the season. The southpaw gave up three hits and four runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking four. Ryan O’Shea was strong again in relief, closing the door on the Panthers to earn his first save of the season. In his two innings, he allowed zero runs and struck out five batters.

The close games between the Knights and the Vikings continue with the game under the lights ending 4-4. The Knights jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Jake Persichilli singled, scoring Ryan O’Shea who walked earlier in the inning. Max Kemnitzer then doubled to deep left driving in Luca Ierano who walked and Jake Persichilli to give the Knights the 3-0 lead.
The Vikings narrowed the Knights' lead to 3-2 before the Knights scored the 4th run in the top of the 3rd inning. Kai Ramalho led off the inning with a walk and stole second before Ryan O’Shea’s single brought him home.
The Vikings tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the 4th inning which proved to be the final score.
Max Kemnitzer led things on the bump for the Knights. He allowed three hits, four runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out six Vikings and walking three. Ryan O’Shea pitched two innings to shut down the Vikings. Max Kemnitzer led the Knights with two hits and two RBIs. Ryan O’Shea, Kai Ramalho, and Max Kemnitzer each stole multiple bases for the Knights.
